Famous Villas and Houses in Smíchov II - From Hřebenka to Anděl We will start our walk at the villa of Milan Hodža, the interwar prime minister, and learn where Milada Horáková, a victim of communist atrocities in the 1950s, lived before her arrest. On the way down the hill we will see the house where the writer Jakub Arbes died. We will talk about the history of the Sacre-Coeur Monastery and the three buildings that represent the culmination of the Beuron School of Art. We will pass by the former Neubert's Printing House, through a beautiful viewpoint over the whole of lower Smíchov to the important school, representing the interwar architecture. We will end the walk at the site of the former Carthusian monastery and Ringhoffer's factory, which in its time was the largest carriage factory in the world.
