Famous Villas on the Southern Slope of Vinohrady Vinohrady has always been a desirable neighborhood, where the wealthy and powerful began moving in at the end of the 19th century. We’ll take a tour of the famous villas on Dykova and Hradešínská streets and learn about the lives of architects Antonín Turek, Jan Kotěra, and F.A. Libra, writer Viktor Dyk, and entrepreneurs Emil Kolben and František Maršner, the founder of Orion chocolate factory. You’ll learn where the Šafránka estate once stood before the Svobody villa colony was built in 1925, and which notable figures lived in the colony —such as the violin virtuoso Sádlo or the owner of the largest fabric store, Josef Čáp.
